HEAD STRUCTURE FOR TRANSFER-TYPE DOT PRINTER

PURPOSE:To provide a quiet-type printer capable of dot-printing an ordinary kind of paper without use of a special-type ink ribbon by installing a transfer cylinder which retains ink supplied from an ink roller and transfers the ink to a printing surface. CONSTITUTION:Cylinders for printing dots 11 are arranged concentrically in a number corresponding to the number of vertical dots. Printing dots 12 are provided on the edge of each cylinder 11 with a notch 13 formed on the circumference of the cylinder. Each cylinder for printing dots 11 is arranged at an inclination of ''alpha'' against a vertical line AA' of a printing surface 15. External cylinders 11 are combined with internal cylinders 11' in such a way that the latter's length may be shorter than the former's length. And at the same time, an array of printing dots are disposed almost parallel with the printing surface 15. Each cylinder 11 is made movable to an protrusion position and a retraction position by a slide mechanism. The cylinder works for printing at the protrusion position, and rotates by one dot pitch. An ink roller 14 is provided almost parallel with an array of dots on each cylinder 11 and is made to engage with the notch 13 of each cylinder 11 for ink supply.
