PURPOSE:To prevent a disorder applied to a power system by monitoring the moving range of a pole position of a generator, thereby minimizing a stress applied to the generator. CONSTITUTION:The projection of a metal disc 2 is detected by a proximity switch 3 disposed near the disc 2 coupled directly with a rotor 1, and its output is input through a waveform shaper 5 to a pulse comparator 10. On the other hand, the output of a transformer PT provided at the power system side of a generator main circuit is input through a waveform shaper 8 to a pulse comparator 10. The comparator 10 monitors the phases of both inputs, a generator tripping circuit 12 is operated by the output to protect the generator.
