PURPOSE:To set a proper bias in consideration of a maximum output level by not setting the bias for the purpose of making frequency characteristics flat merely in a tape recorder with a bias adjusting function. CONSTITUTION:When a switch S3 is closed and a changeover switch S2 is set to a position (d), a test signal having a reference frequency f1 higher than a reference level by several dB is recorded on a magnetic tape through a flat amplifier 10 and a recording amplifier 11. When a changeover switch S1 is switched to a position (b), tertiary higher harmonics of the reference frequency f1 are indicated on a level meter 7. At this time, a bias adjuster 14 is so adjusted that the difference between the value of +5dB and the value read on the level meter 7 is about 30dB, and the switch S3 is opened, and the changeover switch S2 is switched to positions (d) and (e) alternately to record the test signal having frequencies f1 and f2 on the tape, and this signal is reproduced, and adjusting is so performed by a recording equalizer adjuster that the same level is attained. |
