The invention relates to a mechanical device for progressively driving, without friction or liquid, using centrifugal force. It is composed of only three main pieces: 1. The driving shaft A securely fastened to an arm G: 2. A spindle C rotating in this arm and comprising an eccentric mass F on one side and a pinion D on the other side; 3. The driven shaft B securely fastened to a pinion E meshing on the pinion D. This device advantageously allows friction or hydraulic clutches, especially in automatic gearboxes, to be replaced. The elimination of wear, of power loss by sliding in direct engagement, and insensitivity to temperature render it particularly impressive in performance and economical. It can easily be adapted for use as a torque converter. <IMAGE>
