PURPOSE:To use the titled camera for a normal image pick up in common for a film image pick up and to obtain a proper white balance during film image picking up by forming a color difference signal by the output signal from a luminance signal process circuit and the output signal from a color signal process circuit and average them, and comparing them with the output signal from a reference voltage generator circuit, and controlling a gain of the color signal process circuit during its operation. CONSTITUTION:At the time of image pick up of a color negative film, a switch 9 is turned on to image pick up the color negative film by an image pick up part 1. The gain of an R signal process circuit 4 is controlled to respond to a count value in an up/down counter 15, and a color difference signal R-Y average value from a color difference signal circuit 6 becomes equal to a reference voltage value of a reference voltage generator circuit. Thus even when a picture is sent to the next picture, the white balance is always properly adjusted during color negative film is image picked up.
