For the detachable connection of two parts, for example of the ends of a closed system, especially of a chain, a belt or the like, a closing element is proposed which consists of rings which are arranged eccentrically in one another and are firmly connected to one another at one point. An approximately spherical locking element can be inserted into a retaining opening in the outer ring, which locking element is displaceable in the circumferential direction into the tapering annular intermediate space between the outer ring and inner ring, until it reaches a latching position.
