PURPOSE:To improve the corrosion resistance of a recording medium by providing a protective film consisting of a nitride, carbide or a mixed film composed of the nitride and carbide and a metallic film between an undercoating layer consistingof silicon oxide and optical recording layer provided adjacently to a substrate. CONSTITUTION:This optical recording medium is constituted by forming the undercoating layer 2 consisting of silicon oxide on the writing side substrate 1a, providing successively a protective film 8, metallic film 9, recording layer 3, spacer layer 4, reflecting layer 5 and protective layer 6 thereon and pasting further said substrate via an adhesive layer 7 to a substrate 1b for protection. The undercoating layer 2 consisting of the silicon oxide is thus provided adjacently to the substrate 1a and the protective film 8 consisting of the nitride or carbide or the mixed film composed of the nitride and carbide as well as the metallic film 9 consisting of Al, Cr, etc. are provided between at least said undercoating layer 2 and the optical recording layer 3, by which the oxidation of the recording ayer 3 is prevented and the corrosion resistance of the recording medium is improved. |
