PURPOSE:To finish the coated surface of a web into the flat and lustrous surface without any chaps by supplying a solvent to the peripheral surface of a reversing roll after the coating agent is scraped off with a doctor, and dissolving the coating agent on the reversing roll with said solvent. CONSTITUTION:A doctor acting on the peripheral surface of a reversing roll 2 is provided at a position on the lower side of a coating agent reservoir in the revolving direction of the roll, and a means 5 for supplying a solvent to the peripheral surface of the reversing roll 2 is provided at a position on the lower side of the point of action P of the doctor 4 on the peripheral surface of the reversing roll 2 in the revolving direction of the roll. In this way, the peripheral surface of the reversing roll is brought into contact with the coating surface of a web passing through the nip between rolls while always being wetted with the solvent. Accordingly, the flat and lustrous surface without any chaps can be obtained. |
