<p>PURPOSE:To provide a rear wheel steering device having a less transmission loss and an increased reliability, by controlling the steering of rear wheels with the use of a gear mechanism. CONSTITUTION:A rack 10 is arranged substantially in parallel with a rack gear 6 in a steering device, and the rack 10 is integrally connected with the rack gear 6 through a connecting rod 11 so that the rack 10 rectilinearly moves together with the rack gear 6 in the lateral direction of a vehicle. A pinion 13 fitted on an input shaft 12 extending in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle is meshed with the rack 10, and the rear end of the input shaft 12 is connected to the front end of an output shaft 16 through a rear wheel steering device 15 for controlling the steering of rear wheels 14. The rear wheel steering device 15 is provided, in its casing 31 secured to a vehicle body, with a differential gear mechanism 34 having two input gears 32, 33, an input gear mechanism 35 for delivering a steering force to the differential gear mechanism 34, and an output gear mechanism 36 for deriving the steering force from the gear mechanism 34.</p> |
