发明名称 OPTICAL RECORDER
摘要 PURPOSE:To attain ease of recording density changeover and a line density higher than an element buried density by constituting an optical recording head with a light source and a waveguide path and changing over the recording line density through the changeover of the waveguide mode in the waveguide path. CONSTITUTION:A waveguide path 3 is obtained by vapor-depositing an impurity such as Ti on a substrate 7 made of LiTaO3 or the like. The light from a light source 1 transmits through a polarizer layer 2 and becomes a polarized wave with an angle of 45 deg. to the Y axis and made incident on the waveguide path 3. Each polarized wave in the Y and Z axes of the light transmitting through the waveguide path 3 is subject to different phase modulation by an applied voltage between electrodes 5 and 6. Then the light is transmitted through an analyzer layer 4 transmitting the polarized with at a right angle to that of the polarized layer 2 at the outlet of the waveguide path. Thus, this head acts like a head for optical recording when the said impressed voltage is a picture signal. If the light source 1 is shifted from the waveguide path 3 as shown in Fig. (a), the waveguide mode is represented by the total reflection angle theta. Moreover, it is represented as the collection of energy as shown in Fig. (b) 9. In making the shift of the incident light adjustable, the gathering of the energy dominant to the waveguide mode is split. Thus, a high waveguide path density is obtained.
