PURPOSE:To improve picture quality in multilayer scattering by scattering photoconductive toner over a base electrode, applying a high voltage potential having the polarity opposite to that of toner charges to a conductive electrode provided opposite the base electrode, and allowing the toner to fly to the counter electrode. CONSTITUTION:The photoconductive toner 1 is scattered uniformly over the base electrode 2 in plural layers. Then, the uppermost layer of the photoconductive toner 1 is charged by a corona electrifier to, for example, the positive polarity. Then, the high voltage potential having the negative polarity opposite to toner charges is impressed to the light-transmissive, conductive counter electrodes 5 and then the toner in the uppermost layer on the base electrode 2 is allowed to fly to the surface 5A of the counter electrode. Then, for example, a positive original is exposed and put opposite the surface 5A of the counter electrode to charge electrostatically a transfer material 7 from its reverse surface by a corona electrifier 8 to the polarity opposite to that of electrostatically charged charges of the toner 1, thus transferring the positive image from the counter electrode surface 5A to the transfer material 7. Thus, the picture quality is improved at the time of multilayer scattering. |
