Lysine salt crystals and process for produktion thereof.

Equimolar crystals of lysine and 2-hydroxy-4-methylthiobutyric acid are provided. They are made by the reaction together of the two components in aqueous solution wherein there may be an excess of lysine, followed by crylstallization and separation of the desired salt. The separation may include conventional purification steps such as recrystallization. The crystals are used for example in animal feedstuffs.
