PURPOSE:To provide a uniform and accurate plated layer over an area within a required range at a contact part, by a method wherein a central part of a contact piece is pressed so as to correct the torsion or undulation of the contact piece connected by a frame, thereby maintaining a constant spacing between a contact part and a roll. CONSTITUTION:Press rollers 17 depress the central part of the contact piece 1 downward through elastic deformation. Therefore, the lower side of each end part of the contact piece 1 is pressed against the upper surface 12 of a guide shelf 12, whereby the torsion or undulation of the contact piece 1 is corrected. Under the condition thus corrected, the end part of the contact piece 1 slides on the guide shelf 12. Accordingly, the spacing between the contact part of each of the contact pieces 1 being moved is maintained to be constant, and only a projected part of the contact part is immersed in a plating liquid film formed on the outer peripheral surface of an upper part of the roll 9, and is plated with a metal.
