[Also in Group XXXVI] A glass consists essentially of:- SiO 2 - - 65-76% Na 2 O - - - 0-15%}12-20% K 2 O - - - 0-20% CaO - - - 1-10% 1-10% Mg O - - - 0-10% Al 2 O 3 - - 0- 5% Co 3 O 4 - - - 2- 5% Fe 2 O 3 - - - 2-10% S - - - 0.2-1.1% C - - - 0-3% The glass is opaque to radiation of wavelength 0.2 to 2.0 microns and is suitable for the envelope of a semiconductor device and for fusing to electrode leads of copper sheathed nickel-iron wire.
