Ni-tubing contg. getter-material is connected with at least 1 of the power-supplying electrodes to conduct the current to the light-source and provide mechanical support for it. Alternatively the Ni-tubing containing the getter can be wound around one or both of the supports of the arc (in the dischargelamp) or the electrodes (of the filament of the glowlamp). The getter material is an allow of 85% Zr, 7% Fe and 8% Al or of 85% Zr, 10% Ti and 5% Ni. Gettering method is suitable for high intensity lamps. The gettering action takes place inside an evacuated glass envelope surrounding the light-source.
