The invention relates to an on-board intercom which can be used in particular in an armoured vehicle in order to interconnect two crew members and connect them with two radio transceivers 6, 7. Each crew member has a headset including a microphone 12 and headphones 13 connected to a cover plate A containing principally: a keypad 11 for selecting intercom functions; a button 10 for manual control of the send/receive switch of the radio transceivers 6, 7; a generator 15 of superaudio remote-control signals; an interface 19 making it possible to superimpose on a bifilar line 20 alternating signals coming from or heading for the central station 8, and a direct alternating direct current through the central station 8; and a vocal activity detector 16 which suppresses the microphone signal when there is no speech. The central station 8 includes principally: interfaces 31 to 34 connected to the bifilar lines 20 to 23 respectively; two switching matrices 35 and 39; a remote-control decoder 36 for controlling the switching matrices 35, 39; an analogue adder 38 providing an audio conferencing signal; two send/receive signal detectors 40 and 41, the latter being an audio signal superimposed on the microphone signal.
