PURPOSE:To eliminate a loss time in a device for storing articles ito a multistage cart, by providing an elevatable cart carrier bed along an article carrier bed such that the elevatable cart carrier bed is elevated to the same level as that of the article carrier bed to receive articles which are transferred by means of a shift means. CONSTITUTION:An empty cart A is set on a cart carrier bed 2 in a cart elevating device 20, and is then elevated until an article carrier bed becomes flush with the lowest stage shelf (a). Articles B are shifted to the shelf (a) when the cart A is stopped and when it is confirmed that the shelf (a) is empty. Then, the cart A is lowered by the height of the shelf (a). If the next shelf (a) is stored with articles at this time, a storing count ''1'' is counted. If the shelf (a) is empty, the similar storing step is repeated. Thus the cart A is lowered by one stage at one time to repeat the storing. With this arrangement to reduce a loss time to enhance efficiency. |
