PURPOSE:To obtain a slurry having good flow stability, in dispersing silicon nitride being a ceramic material throughout an org. solvent, by compounding amine represented by formula I, a quaternary ammonium salt thereof or a neutral salt thereof. CONSTITUTION:When silicon nitride is dispersed in an org. solvent such as an alcoholic solvent or an ester solvent, various primary tertiary amines represented by formula I (wherein R1, R2 and R3 are hydrogen, a 1-3C alkyl group or a 12-22C alkyl group and at least one of R1, R2 or R3 is a 12-22C alkyl group), quaternary salts thereof or neutral salts thereof are compounded in an amount of 0.005-7.0%, pref., 0.05-2% on the basis of silicon nitride. The amount of the org. solvent at this time is pref. about 20-80% and the particle size of silicon nitride to be used is about 100mum - submicron. When grinding and adjustment are performed according to the above mentioned compound by a ball mill, the dispersant develops excellent effect in the dispersion of silicon nitride to enhance the grinding effect of silicon nitride and imparts a slurry having excellent flow stability for cast molding.
