PURPOSE:To improve the operability of transmission by placing a control original in which number of originals to be processed is described to the head of a generatl original, counting the number of transmission originals after the said number is read and discriminating whether or not the FAX communication for the number of control signals is conducted. CONSTITUTION:The control original CS is constituted by the OMR sheet and the area consists of an OMR identification area CS-1, an OMR type area CS-2, a transmission mode designation area CS-3, a destination designation area CS-4, and an original number designation area CS-5 to be read. Then the originals are stacked in a hopper HP in the order of the original CS#1, general originals DS#1, CS#2, DS#3-. When the original CS#1 is put in, the number of originals is read from the area CS-5 by a sensor of the hopper. The section between the #1 and #2 is detected by a notch CSA of the original CS. The number of general originals to be carried is counted in parallel with the read at the device side and it is compared with the number of sheets designated by the area CS-5 to decide the normality of transmission.
