PURPOSE:To avoid the mixing of inks even when being capped for a while by providing a valve in the suction path between the cap and a suction pump in a suction recovery device in which negative pressure suction is made through the cap from each nozzle. CONSTITUTION:A solenoid valve 5 is provided between a suction pump 4 and a cap 2. The suction pump 4 is turned on under the condition that the cap 2 is pressingly contacted with the multi-nozzle head 1 side, whereupon the suction chamber 7 of the valve 5 becomes a negative pressure state through a tube 6. When the valve 5 is turned ON then, the chamber 7 is connected to tubes 3a- 3d. As a result, each color of inks sucked from each nozzle are sucked into the chamber 7 and then into a waste ink tank in the state of mixed colors. When the valve 5 is turned OFF, the tubes 3a-3d are isolated from the chamber 7, and the suction of the ink is ended. Under such a condition, no back flow of mixed colors of inks toward the tube 3 side occurs. |
