发明名称 SURFACE TREATMENT OF POLYMER
摘要 PURPOSE:To decrease the oil penetrability, permeability, etc., of a polymer, by treating its surface with a glow discharge plasma, coating the treated surface with a vinyl monomer and polymerizing the monomer by irradiation with a glow discharge plasma. CONSTITUTION:A polymer (e.g., urethane rubber or polypropylene) is modified by irradiating its surface with a glow discharge plasma to improve the affinity of the surface for a polymerizable monomer. This modified surface is coated with a vinyl monomer (e.g., acrylic acid or N,N-dimethylacrylamide), and this monomer is polymerized by irradiation with a glow discharge plasma to form a thin polymer film. In this way, the surface properties of the polymer are changed, for example, the oil penetrability, permeability, etc., are decreased to obtain the polymer which is modified to such an extent that it can be used as, for example, a material for oil storage containers.
