Accumulator cell has a Mg -based cathode a TiO2 based anode, an alkaline electrolyte and a separator permeable to hydroxyl ions. The anode is esp. TiO2 mixed with Co2O3, and yellow mercury oxide or MnO. The electrolyte is aq. KOH contg. MgO, Li2O borax. The cell can discharged and recharged a number of times. No expensive metal is used for the electrodes. The Li and Mg oxide additionsl ensure an improved ion exchange and act as depolarisers. |
