PURPOSE:To obtain a rust preventive for coating having improved power to prevent the rusting of Cu and Cu alloys by adding water soluble rust preventing chemicals and alcohol to an aqueous soln. of the triethanolamine salt of a specified dibasic acid in a specified ratio. CONSTITUTION:A rust preventive is obtd. by adding 0.1-5wt% water soluble rust preventing chemicals such as benzotriazole and 10-50wt% 1-3C alcohol such as ethanol to an aqueous soln. contg. 10-50wt% triethanolamine salt of 16-20C aliphatic satd. branched dibasic acid. The rust preventive is comparable to rust preventing oil in power to prevent the rusting of Cu and Cu alloys. It maintains oily and nondrying properties and can be easily dissolved and removed by flushing with water or steam or by immersion in water. |
