PURPOSE:To obtain the titled stable complex having high protein absorptivity and free of protein denaturation, etc., and useful for the affinity separation, enzymatic reaction, etc., by adsorbing protein to a filamentous formed material having specific nitrile content, crystallinity and orientation. CONSTITUTION:A nitrile-containing polymer having a CN-content of >=20wt% [e.g. (meth)acrylonitrile (co)polymer] is subjected preferably to wet spinning (e.g. by using concentrated nitric acid as the solvent and an aqueous solution of nitric acid as the coagulant) essentially without causing elongation to obtain a filamentous formed product having a fineness of <=40de in dry state, a crystallinity of <10% and an orientation of <40%. The surface of the product is preferably made porous e.g. by the wet-heat treatment to obtain a specific surface area of >=1.5m<2>/g. The filamentous product is added to a protein solution preferably at 5-50 deg.C, and if necessary stirred or shaken to obtain the objective complex.
