The invention relates to an energy-carrying chain for supplying consumption means of all types to units which move on tracks, in the case of which chain, energy lines are arranged in continuous internal spaces of a link chain consisting of a multiplicity of plastic chain links, and in which the chain links, which are connected to one another in an articulated manner, in each case have two external flaps which are connected to one another in the region of their upper and lower edges by means of in each case one transversely directed web, and which external flaps are provided at their two ends with mutually offset attachment flaps for the articulation of identical chain links. The fitment of the energy lines and of separating plates in the internal space of the chain links is simplified in that the two external flaps are integrally connected only to the web arranged on the lower edges, in that the external flaps have mutually aligned receptacles in the region of their upper edges, into which receptacles a web which is constructed as a separate component can be inserted, and in that the web and the external flaps are provided with latching elements, which are matched to one another and can be detached again, for their connection and separation.
