PURPOSE:To improve heat efficiency and heat a reinforcing material at a high speed by allowing the reinforcing material itself to heat up. CONSTITUTION:This reinforcing device is provided with a carrying and drawing mechanism 10 which moves an optical fiber core connection part to a predetermined position and applies constant tensile strength to the connection part, reinforcing material supply films 15 and 15' which are made of a couple of heat- resisting materials and have adhesive-applied reinforcing materials 4 and 4' fitted at specific intervals, and a film feeding mechanism 17 which transports the reinforcing materials 4 and 4' to predetermined positions together with the films 15 and 15'. Then, a pressing mechanism 21 presses the couple of reinforcing materials 4 and 4' against optical fiber core connection parts carried to the predetermined positions, and a reinforcing part forming mechanism 50 heats the reinforcing materials 4 and 4' by induction heating to connect and fix an optical fiber core 9. |
