摘要 PURPOSE:The reaction between a urea, carbon monoxide and an organic hydroxyl compound is carried out in the presence of a catalyst composed of a platinum metal and a halide, and an oxidizing agent, as the water formed during the reaction is removed out of the reaction system, to produce the titled compound in high selectivity based on CO at high reaction rate. CONSTITUTION:In the presence of a catalyst system which is composed of an oxidizing agent such as molecular oxygen or an organic nitro compound, and i) a platinum metal, preferably Pd, Rh or a compound containing the same and ii) a halogen-containing compound such as a metal halide or onium halide, a urea is allowed to react with carbon monoxide and an organic hydroxyl compound to give a urethane where the whole or a part of water formed by the reaction is removed out of the reaction system by the reaction distillation method, using a carrier gas such as the reaction gas containing carbon monoxide or by distillation of the water along with a part of the organic hydroxyl compound. The reaction is preferably effected at 120-220 deg.C and 20-300kg/cm<2>.
