SURFACE-COATED SINTERED HARD MEMBER

摘要

PURPOSE:To develop a surface-coated sintered hard member having excellent adhesion between the hard member and the hard carbon coating layer in the stage of coating the hard carbon coating layer on the surface of the hard material by improving the surface roughness of the hard material and the surface roughness of the hard carbon coating material. CONSTITUTION:The surface roughness of a base which is a hard material such as WC-bace sintered hard alloy, TiC-base cermet, TiCN-base cermet or the like is preliminarily made to <=0.5S in the stage of coating hard carbon called as diamond-like carbon or i-carbon on the surface of said base material. Such materials are put into an ion plating device and hydrocarbon plasma is formed by using a gaseous mixture composed of hydrocarbon and gaseous Ar to form a hard carbon coating layer having 0.1-10mum thickness and <=0.5S surface roughness on the surface of the hard member. The surface coated hard member having the wear-resistant hard layer which is excellent in adhesion to the base material and resistance to pitting is obtd.
