PURPOSE:To provide the titled material having excellent dimensional stability, thermal stability, processability and toughness, by finely dispersing a small quantity of a polyvinyl acetal resin in a phenolic resin. CONSTITUTION:A material for master model, which has a porous structure having an average pore size of 0.5-50mu and a void content of 40-90%, is obtd. by finely dispersing 0.02-0.2pts.wt. polyvinyl acetal resin in a phenolic resin. This material for master model does not casue fracturing, breaking or scorching phenomenon by working tools, has good workability, exhibits good dimensional stability after processing and little causes warpage. Particularly, the meterial does not cause deformation and denaturation by heating, though conventional resin-based materials are deformed and denatured by heating. Further, as compared with wood, the material does not have directional property, and hence, it can be processed in various directions.
