Devices for improving the operation of the medical gripping device described in Patent No. 83/06938 of April 27 1983. The invention relates to: - a device allowing displacement of the gripping arm in a horizontal plane; - a so-called "gripping arm" device constituting a component which can be used outside the system including as a stretcher; - a so-called strip-support bolt device ensuring attachment of the strips passed beneath the patient to the gripping arm, with adjustment of the strip-support according to the thickness of the strips used. <IMAGE>
