PURPOSE:To decompose and convert tributyl phosphate into an inorganic material by treating the waste solvent contg. tributyl phosphate in mixed solns. of sulfuric acid-hydrogen peroxide and phosphoric acid-hydrogen peroxide under reduced pressure and elevated temps. CONSTITUTION:100% tributyl phosphate or 30% tributyl phosphate-kerosene or dodecane is partially decomposed by acid and partially decomposed by thermal decomposition in the mixed solns. of sulfuric acid-hydrogen peroxide and phosphoric acid-hydrogen peroxide at 150-210 deg.C under reduced pressure. And phosphoric acid, an organic phase to be decomposed by distillation, and a water phase are separated from each other. The tributyl phosphate is decomposed and converted into inorganic materials in this way.
