<p>PURPOSE:To realize in-process detection of abnormal conditions such as breakage or damage of the rotating tool, by providing a detecting means which detects the relative motion between the tool holder and the power transmission member generated when the torque limitter is in action. CONSTITUTION:When the machining torque is increased due to the wear of blade of the rotating tool 15 or blocking caused by the machined chips during machining, and there is a danger of breakage or damage, a torque limitter 30 is actuated to generate a slippage between a power transmission member 20 and transmission cylindrical shaft 10 and the part between a rotating tool 15 and torque setting nut is stopped. However, as a tool holder main body 1 continues to rotate, the relative motion is generated between a detector 40 which is at rest and a contactless switch 41. The contactless switch 41 detects the relative position change of the detector 40. The electrical signal detected by the contactless switch is converted to a light in an amplifier 42 and a flood lamp 43, received by a photodetector 46. Then, it is judged that the limitter 30 is actuated and protective measures are carried out. When the number of detection exceeds the reference value, an alarm is switched on to stop the machine and exchange the tool.</p> |
