Apparatus for feeding bars of concrete-reinforcing steel to a processing machine, in particular to a shear, having a machine frame, a bottom beam and a top beam. At least the bottom beam has two lateral cheeks, between which link chains run over deflection wheels which carry bearing elements having a soft-elastic covering. The top beam is designed as a contact pressure device which acts on the link chains via bars of concrete-reinforcing steel to be introduced. The bottom beam protrudes from the machine frame and can be pivoted about a horizontal pivoting axis which extends parallel to or coincides with the rear deflection wheels of its link chains. By means of at least one cylinder-piston arrangement supported on the machine frame, the bottom beam can be lowered out of the introduction plane to an open introduction mouth. <IMAGE>
