PURPOSE:To improve the operability of a data printer by shifting automatically the data on a deleted area and the areas following thereto in the upper digit direction by an amount equivalent to the number of digits of the deleted data in case the data on a line buffer part in an input buffer is deleted. CONSTITUTION:A CPU50 transfers the character data of a line buffer part 54 to a print buffer 57 and prints it through a line printer 8 with operation of a print key on a keyboard 10. Then the character data of an auxiliary buffer part 55 is transferred to the head of the part 54 and then to a display buffer 56 to be displayed to a display 11. Then the CPU50 shifts the character data on a deleted area and its following areas in the upper digit direction including the part 55 by an amount equivalent to number of digits of the deleted data in case the character data of the part 54 is deleted with operation of a deletion key on the keyboard 10. As a result, no extra operation is needed when a blank part is moved forward owing to the deletion of data. This improves the operability of a data printer.
