PURPOSE:To prevent occurrence of positional deviation in recorded images so as to make efficient image formation, by starting the contact and contact release of a cleaning member with and from an image forming body at the timing other than the image writing at least. CONSTITUTION:At the 1st turn the surface of an image forming body 1 is charged with electricity by means of a charger 2 and an electrostatic image obtained by image exposure 4 is subjected to the 1st development in the developing device containing the toner of the color corresponding to the image exposure 4 out of developing devices 5-8. Such a process is repeated and, before the leading edge of the toner remaining on the image forming body 1 reaches a cleaning blade 14a after the 4th latent image is formed, a cleaning device 14 is actuated and the blade 14a and fur brush 14b are contacted with the image forming body 1. At the moment when the tailing end of the remaining toner passes through the brush 14b, the cleaning device 14 is released and the blade 14a and brush 14b are separated from the image forming body 1. |
