PURPOSE:To simplify the process for manufacture of an organic electrolyte battery by preventing any deterioration of its performance which might be caused by gas generation by reducing manganese dioxide used in the positive active material by means of an alcohol. CONSTITUTION:During manufacture of an organic electrolyte battery of the thin type, the positive mixture is prepared by mixing manganese dioxide used as a positive active material, a conductive carbon agent and a fluorine-resin-system binder together by the use of water and an alcohol, then drying the mixture before subjecting it to pressure molding. During this process, manganese dioxide is reduced by the alcohol. Additionally, the alcohol contained in the positive mixture is removed by the above process of drying. Therefore there is no possibility that the alcohol remains in the molded positive mixture during the assembly of the battery. By the means mentioned above, it is not necessary to perform the process of preliminary electroc discharge after the battery assembly and the discharge capacity of the battery is increased. |
