PURPOSE:To attain a stable image sensor output by transmitting a light source light, intercepting a reflected light from the original, and by providing a unilateral transmission plate equipped with a slit which passed the reflected light from an original read area. CONSTITUTION:A platen glass 3 is covered with unilateral transmission plates 10a and 10b, remaining a slit part 3a wide enough to transmit the reflected light in the original 1 read area. When the light source of red, green and blue 2a, 2b, and 2c light up by the output of a read command, the reader irradiates the original through magic mirrors 10a and 10b, and the platen glass 3. The reflected light from the original 1 read area is let out through the slit 3a of the glass 3 and the slit 4a of a reflecter 4, and enters an image sensor 5, where the reflected light is convertered photoelectrically, stored, encoded, and modulated to be sent. Therefore, even if there is a change in reflection light quantity by the original, the original irradiation quantity can be constantly retained.
