PURPOSE:To obtain a multilayer pipe which has excellent transparency by cooling the exterior of the pipe with water, passing inert gas or inert gas containing water spray through the pipe, and preventing the interior of the pipe from cooling and oxidizing. CONSTITUTION:A multiplayer pipe 21 is composed of inner and outer polyester layers 22, 25, an intermediate gas barrier layer 24 of ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer, and adhesive layers 23a, 23b interposed therebetween. The pipe is manufactured by coextrusion, but the extruded pipe is quenched by dipping, and inert gas is passed through the pipe, thereby preventing the interior of the pipe from cooling and oxidizing. The thus obtained multilayer oriented polyester bottle has transparency and gas breaking withstand property equivalent to those of a glass bottle and still provides an ideal vessel having a light weight and damage resistance. |
