The opening movement of the lock bolt is blocked by engaging a pin into a recess of lesser depth than the door or window thickness. The locking mechanism (2)has a housing (3) in two halves (45), of which one half (4) is connected with a plate (6) and screws (7) to the side edge of the panel (1) housing (3) fits into a cavity (8) of the door panel. The plate has an aperture (11) for lock bolt (12) which has a wedge shaped protrusion (19). The lock bolt, in the closed position is tensioned by spiral spring (28) fixed to one half and contacting the wedge protrusion.
