The invention relates to a protection circuit breaker having an overcurrent and short-circuit trip device, which is effectively connected to an auxiliary switch. Separate switching shafts (4, 5), which are effectively connected to separate auxiliary switches (17, 19, 20), are provided for short-circuit and overcurrent tripping. Connected to the tripping shafts (4, 5) are locking levers (2, 3) which, for their part, interact with locking levers (8, 9). Indicating and resetting plungers (14, 15), which allow the separate detection of short-circuit and overcurrent tripping, are connected to the locking levers (8, 9). <IMAGE>
