PURPOSE:To make it possible to measure the level of an interface readily, by measuring temperature distribution of a heater, which is vertically arranged in an interface of liquid or powdery granule. CONSTITUTION:When liquid or powdery granule is contacted with a gas with a plane as a boundary, a heater, whose heating value is uniform in the longitudinal direction, is vertically arranged with respect to the boundary. When the heater is not heated, the temperature of the heater is determined in such a way that temperature distribution is determined by an external temperature field as shown by broken lines 3 and 4. There are cases, where the entire heater shows the uniform temperature distribution as the broken line 3, and where the temperature is changed as the broken line 4. Under this state, an appropriate thermal quantity is outputted from the surface of the heater. The temperature distribution of the heater when a steady state is attained is shown by solid lines (a) and (b). Namely, the temperature rises by heating are given by (a-3) and (b-4). When the heat conductivities and the heat transfer rates of the materials in regions I and II are different, the temperature distribution of the heater is drastically changed in the vicinity of the interface. Then the temperature distribution of the heater is measured. The interface exists at the part where the temperature is changed. Thus the position of the interface is obtained. |
