The invention relates to a device for warning against an icy surface on roads, paths, pavements, steps or the like, having a temperature sensor which detects the temperature on the floor to be controlled, a display section controlled by said temperature sensor, a solar cell which generates current upon the incidence of light, a current-conducting connection between the solar cell and the temperature sensor, a temperature sensor which conducts current in the desired measuring range, for example +2 DEG to -2 DEG C, a capacitor connected to the output side of the current leads of the temperature sensor and a display section which generates flashes of light in a pulsed fashion depending on the recharging of the capacitor.
