PURPOSE:To maintain always specified thrust at the front surface of a molten steel by determining an optimum electromagnetic stirring current by using a model equation from the thickness of a solidified shell and the set value of a target white band and controlling the electric current of a stirrer in accordance with said value. CONSTITUTION:The electric current of an electromagnetic stirrer is controlled within the range of + or -15% of a current value A by the equation I where the thickness of the solidified shell at the front face of the electromagnetic stirrer is designated as D, an actual distribution coefft. as KE, a balancing distribution coefft. as K0, a required current value as A and a coefft. (g) is given, in continuous casting entailing electromagnetic stirring. Central segregation is thus reduced and quality is improved. |
