PURPOSE:To obtain easily a billet having good quality without providing a device for controlling the speed of a reciprocating casting mold by making common use of a driving system of a driving system for drawing the billet and a driving system for the reciprocating casting mold. CONSTITUTION:The speed of a pinch roll 6 is changed and the change is transmitted to a cam 14 then the speed of pushing a reciprocating casting mold 1 changes at the same rate in the case of changing the drawing speed of a billet. The geometry of a cam is therefore so preliminarily desired as to satisfy that the returning motion begins right after the end of the pushing motion of the reciprocating casting mold at a certain speed and that the pushing motion begins right after the end of the returning motion, then even if the speed of the cam 14 is changed, the above-mentioned requirement is satisfied. On the other hand, the reciprocating distance of the mold 1 is determined by the lifting length of the cam 14 irrespectively of the speed and therefore the requirement for regulating the reciprocating movement of the reciprocating mold (to maintain the reciprocating distance at an adequate specified value even if the drawing speed of the billet changes) is also satisfied. |
