PURPOSE:To provide a rest period in supplying a driving current to dot pins and thereby reduce the capacity of a power source, even when printing an underline, by printing an underline by moving a printing head plural times. CONSTITUTION:A dot line ''9'' for an underline is not printed by moving the printing head one time, but is printed by moving the head plural times. For example, a dot represented by a black solid circle shows a dot served to a printing action, and the dots 1, 2, 5, 6, 9, 10 are printed in the first head-moving step, while the dots 3, 4, 7, 8, 11, 12 are printed in the second head-moving step. Therefore, a continuous underline is printed by the two head-moving steps. Accordingly, in both of the head-moving steps, a rest period is always provided for the dot pins for the underline, and a power source voltage is sufficiently recovered in that period, so that an underline can be printed sufficiently favorably even when a small-type power source device is used.
