PURPOSE:To grind and remove safely the deposits such as slag and base metal sticking to the inside surface of an immersion nozzle of an RH vessel or the like in short time when such deposits stick to the inside surface of the nozzle by inserting a bit provided with an air blow-off port into the nozzle and rotating the same. CONSTITUTION:Slag and base metal stick and solidify to and on the inside surface of a suction nozzle 2 and discharge nozzle for the molten metal in an RH type vacuum refining vessel. A carriage 5 provided with a removal bit 14 for removing such deposits is moved to right under the nozzle 2 or the discharge nozzle. A cylinder 12A(12B) is then started to extend or contract the rod 12a (12b) thereof, thus rising a swiveling rod 13 via coupling base plate 17. While a rod 13 is swiveled by driving a motor 2 in succession thereto, the bit 14 at the top end thereof is inserted into the nozzle to grind and remove the deposits 4 such as slag, base metal, etc. The deposits are blown away by the air ejected from the air port 14a at the top end. The deposits in the nozzle are removed in short time without damaging the refractories of the inside wall of the nozzle. |
