Method and device for the heat treatment of granular materials

The method and device is intended particularly for quenching or annealing of abrasive particles in a furnace using hot gases. The granular materials are separated into fractions according to their particle sizes and are guided into a tank furnace 1 from top to bottom along zig-zag paths, the furnace having a flow of fuel gases 17 more or less in the opposite direction. The system ensures an optimum heat transfer and a heating of the granular materials by the hot fuel gases with low energy consumption.
