PURPOSE:To record clearly the independent points and oblique lines of a single picture element by writing the information on plural picture elements around a notice one into a buffer of plural bits and deciding the state of each picture element from the contents of said buffer to vary the writing energy for the notice picture element. CONSTITUTION:The picture element information applied from an input terminal 13 are transferred in series to buffers 14-16 of capacity equivalent to a single scanning line by the clock supplied from a clock terminal 17. The picture element which writes the output of the (n-1)th bit of the buffer 15 is supplied to a modulator 18 as a notice picture element. While the (n-2)th output of buffers 14-16 and the output of each (n-1) bit of buffers 14 and 16 are supplied to an address line of a ROM19 as the picture information around the notice picture element. The address relation between the notice picture element and other picture elements is stored to the ROM19. Then the energy sent to the modulator 18 from a laser light source 20 is varied by the notice picture element and its surrounding picture elements. Then the laser beam of the modulator 18 is deflected by a scanning means 21, and a photosensitive body 22 is scanned. Thus the picture element information is recorded clearly.
