PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic tape which is free from defective traveling, tape damage, noise, etc. owing to static electrification by coating magnetic powder on one surface of a broad substrate consisting of a high polymer molding and curing the powder then forming a conductive layer to the cut surface of the tape cut to a required size. CONSTITUTION:Ferromagnetic powder is coated together with an org. binder on one surface of a broad substrate 1 consisting of a high polymer molding and is cured to form a magnetic layer 2. Such substrate is cut to a required width size. A conductive layer 3 is formed by vacuum evaporation on the cut surface. The conductive layer 3 on the cut surface contacts with a metallic tape guide and the electrostatic charge falls to the ground through the tape guide in the case of mounting such magnetic tape in a tape recorder and traveling the same. Since the tape end face is coated with the metal 3, the damage of the tape is prevented. |
