A device for the positioning and temporary intermediate storage of articles transported along a track by means of an endless, length-adjustable conveyor belt in a predetermined depositing region, in which device fixed depositing rails or endless depositing belts and/or straps that are fixed at least in the depositing region are arranged to the side of the continuously driven conveyor belt which carries the articles and transports them towards the depositing region or to the side of a plurality of parallel conveyor belts or straps, or a depositing belt is arranged downstream of and behind this conveyor belt in the depositing region and the deflection roller(s) of the conveyor belt is/are mounted on the front end of and, if necessary, together with the deflection roller(s) of the depositing belt so as to be movable in a reciprocating manner. <IMAGE>
